That is the crossmember right? And the tranny mount is between that and the trans bolted in the center there? or am i still lost under there.

Either way, does anyone have the bolt size and torque for that black metal piece? i hit something in the road and heard a lound pop and rattle, and looking under the car i see that at least 1 bolt from that is missing and its hanging down... and the car feels ackward as hell in the trans now.

also... where would the tunnel brace bolt in in relation to that?

You're correct, I don't know the bolt size. Just take one with you to a autoparts store and find some the same size and thread pitch.
The tunnel brace is not to far back out of view in you photo, where the I-pipe starts.
The torque is 42 lbs.

What does the stock one do? Mine was removed when the guy did my exhaust. Where did you get the red one?

it connects both sides of the underbody since there is a gap down the center all the way back for the drive shaft. doesnt do much in terms of handling, probably just there to prevent too much flex which over the lifetime of the vehical could easily cause warping and cracking. they make a few replacements, some come with a drive shaft saftey loop like in that pic. stock one fits most exhuasts but big pipes will rattle against it. bmr fabrication makes the one im gunna replace the stocker with.

Thanks guys, and yes it actually gets driven. Maybe one of these days it will have a trailer of its own, but its too much to not drive it

The red one is a driveshaft safety loop from BMR. UMI and most other suspension manufactures have them as well.

I have considered this, but never looked at it seriously as I lack a torch setup for making the bends. I am not a fan of cold bending steel, especially where its strength may be tested.
