    Lowering Springs and Shocks?

do you need to buy or match the shocks/struts to the springs?

I am watching a shock/strut and spring set. I want to upgrade my shocks, but don't want to lower the car.

This brought up a question. Are the shocks and struts different for stock height vs. a lower spring?

I have absolutely no idea about shocks and springs. I don't want my car any lower than stock. I have the factory body kit on it. I'm already losing a tiny bit of clearance at the side of the car. I have to drive up on a 2x6 just to get my floor jack under it. Personally I love the stock height. I just can't stand the stock struts and shocks.

    thank you

Yes you can upgrade your shocks without springs and yes they're the same height. Bilstein or Koni's,imo. So no worry's with the stock spring in place you'll be at stock height but with a better ride quality. It's the springs that lower the height, if the kit says lowering spring your gonna set lower after the install.

If you want a little better turn in check out a set of sway bars.

thank you. I wasn't sure about this. I didn't know if there were shocks made specifically for lowering springs or not.

I wonder if any one knows what popular brand of shocks would be blue?

I know the Bilstiens are blue and yellow. I don't know if there is a common color to some brands or not. I know the KYB Gas-a-just are white, and the KYB AGX are red.

thanks for the reply. at least now i know the shocks are not specific to lowering springs, just the car, .

ah thanks. I know the KYB Gas-a-just are not a big improvement. I can say on my 1st z28 they were better than my stock socks.

Maybe I will skip the auction and keep saving for the KYB AGX series. I can't justify dropping the kind of money opt 1 and 2 would be. Even a small improvement over stock at a modest cost is worth it to me. I'm not going out and racing. If i was I would be saving all my pennies for the breakables, .

i was just looking at the auction just in case there was something worth my time. i will just move on, .

Just something to think about but the SLP Bilstiens and KYB AGX's are not that far off in price.
