    kyb agx question

ive been in the market for a set of shocks for my car for a while now, and every time i start looking i get completely pissed off because i get different answers from different websites. are KYB AGX adjustables made for lowered cars or not? my car is dropped 1.75 front and .5 rear. i dont want to install them and have them blow out in a couple hundred miles. if you have them any feedback would be great, positive or negative.

I plan on dropping $500+ for revalved Bilsteins for my car.
Worth it from what I understand.

I have heard that is the best 'cheaper' option.

Bilsteins that are specially valved for the Camaro/ Firebird. They are a little more expensive but work so nicely you won't have to be adjusting them all the time. Over the DeCarbon Shocks (stock) they smoothed out my ride and the bumps didn't hit so hard. Then push the car into the corners and they stiffen right up. The nice thing is when they stiffen up and hit that bump the suspension is still smooth and again the bumps don't hit so hard which help to limit skipping and bouncing around of our rear live axles.

There are a number on owner on this board that will swear on the Bilstein's over anything else. There is better but, then your looking at $450 plus a corner vs $450 a set.

    Jmho.... Bilstein Owner on Firebird.

bilsteins are on back order til next year... i wanted these now ive been running with aftermarket rear springs because i havent been able to put my front springs on because the struts are rusted on and taking them off will totally destroy them. i just want to finish off my suspension setup! i really didnt want to spend more than 430.

you can have them revalved for your ride height if its different than stock. i didnt though. i believe i was told from bilstein directly that they will be okay for cars lowered less than 1.5 inches. but it was quite a while ago so dont take my word on it.

There's no way that you (the consumer) can open Bilsteins and revalve them because they're sealed! They're a nitrogen pressurized shock. I've used them on all of my cars for the past 20 years without a single problem. They also stand behind their lifetime warranty: when my Bilsteins wore out I had them removed, sent back and they replaced them no questions asked. If your Bilsteins blow a seal, send 'em back! As long as you haven't damaged the shock rod/shaft (scratched, nicked or gouged from installation/removal) they'll replace them. Damaging the shock rod can damage the shock seals - Bilstein WON'T cover that type of failure! Sam Strano and SLP have Bilsteins revalved to their specs - that's how you get revalved Bilsteins. The shock valving is changed to match the springs that they sell. As for springs, my personal preference is Eibach.
