IRS conversion in LS1 Camaro
I am looking to get some information on what is needed as well as costs involved in swapping in an IRS rear end in my 02 Camaro. I tried doing a search but i found little that helped. I know there have been threads on this before, but maybe im just not trying the right keywords. Can anyone shed some light on this with some pics, personal experience, or write-ups to get me in the right direction.
I dont have a budget or a time table for this project. Im just doing a little homework for now. I know that IRS is less power than solid rear, but my car isnt going to be a track queen. Im really just trying to get the Camaro to handle better and perhaps have a smoother ride quality.

Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
Strano Springs, Swaybars, Koni S/A's and a Watts Link will dramatically change the ride and handling of any F-body. All this is going to cost approx $2100 but it will still be cheaper then fabricating an IRS setup.

One of the car Mags had an article about this but I can't remember for the life of me which one it was. I would search their sites to see if you can find the article.

triple-black- 2000 CamaroSS convertible
for some that have done IRS in Camaro's don't make them faster around a real track (ie, no drag)... so for all the effort and $, it's not worth it... you better off just getting good springs/shocks/sway-bar combination... and even get a Watts-Link for the rear end.
With that, you'll get more than what you want.
Another thing to consider is braking system.Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

Yeah i say try upgrading what you have now and if you still arent happy with it then start looking into the swap. I know for a fact that IRS rears suffer greatly from wheel hop and i HATE wheel hop haha. New shocks springs and sway bars will make it feel 100 times better.
in the end if you still wanna do the swap, you can sell all those parts and get most of your money back

Yea i think im going to steer clear of the IRS. I have come across more information that should prove just as useful as the IRS.
