Gabriel Ultra
Are these shocks any good? At 215k on the clock, the TA is getting a bit bouncy.

I've never heard anything good about the gabriels', other than they're really cheap, I've heard of them blowing out in a little over 5k miles. But then again with 215k miles on the clock anything would be better than what's already on your car now.

From what I could find they are comparable to the stock De Carbons and Monroes. A set of Konis or SLP Bilsteins would be my choice.
2000 T/A-DMH Cutout, SLP Cold Air kit, FTRA/SLP Upgrade, SLP Bilstein, LT1 Eibach ProKit, Kuhmo PA31 Tires ,SLP Fan Switch, UMI Double Adj PHB w/ Roto-Joints, UMI LCARB, Strano 35/22mm Sway Bars , Magnecor KV85 Wires, Hurst Shifter, Lou's Short Stick.

LOL... Leadfarmer. Anything would be better but I'm not going to spend 400 for 4 shocks. And you are right .... they are shot!! One of them actually squeeks when I hit a bump.

DO NOT BUY GABRIELS!!! I had them on the rear and without knowing it one was blown out. When I replaced them one moved with absolutely no resistance. It caused me to spin out on a on ramp and resulted in 3500 in damage. Worst mistake I ever made, its just not worth it.

They have lifetime warranty so I guess if they do blow out you can just throw another one in. Obviously they're not the best thing out there but if you would rather spend the money on other things they would probably be one of the better economy brands. I'm not sure I understand how a blown shock would cause you to spin out on what I assume is an on or off ramp.

There are numerous things that can be caused by bad and worn shocks and imagine one suddenly failing.
Worn shock absorbers can add as
much as 20% to your stopping
distance. That's the sort of fault
that can be fatal and requires
immediate attention.
If the hood of your car dips
when you brake or slow down, or
your vehicle swerves under
brakes, you may have a shock
absorber problem.
Uncomfortable steering wheel
vibration could be shock
absorbers.
If your car veers in side winds,
particularly when the wind isn't so
strong, you could have shock
absorber problems.
Notice that your car 'rock and
rolls' over bumps, railway tracks
or uneven surfaces? Not hugging
the bends? Time to get those
shock absorbers checked then!
If your tjres are wearing
unevenly, particularly if there are
bald patches, odds are it's your
shock absorbers.

I completely agree a blown shocks will cause all of those issues in extreme cases. However, losing control entering an on ramp with one shock that may or may not have been blown out before the accident is at best an extreme case and more than likely had other factors that had considerably more influence(I.E. entrance speed, weather, lead foot syndrome, etc.) IMO. Not trying to defend Gabriels at all, obviously Koni's and Bilstein's are superior shocks, but if you don't want to spend the extra money then they're a viable solution.
