    Control arm bushings

    I was about to do my upper and lower control arm bushings and replace them with poly urathane and was woundering if you need to drop the k member down or if there is a trick to getting the bolt out of the rear control arm bushing

    you don't want poly in the rear of the front lower control arm (i believe it's the rear). it will fail sooner or later, go with rubber there.

    The bolt has a tab welded to it, so it won't turn. Just turn the nut underneath, and hit it with a rubber mallet to drive it up. Helps to move the connector for abs out of the way to (hopefully) grab the bolt.

    polys here.....its not a problem like some would have you believe.....that lower rear bolt is a PITA....but it will come out

    No,you don't. Just remember to reuse the stock sleeve,and the longer of the two goes in the horizontal, or front position.

    Hi, reviving this thread because the local shop is telling me that my car isn't staying in alignment because I need to replace my lower control arm bushings. Does anyone have a write up of how to replace these, preferably with pics? I searched the site but didn't see a good reference.

    BTW - I've never touched the suspension, couldn't even point out the lower control arm to you. But this car is no longer my primary vehicle so I can afford to take some time playing around with it.
