    Alignment issues

I just had my car aligned today and it drives straight now, but there's still about 1"-1.5" of play in my steering wheel. I can rock the steering shaft back and forth by hand, so my question is, how do I get rid of the slop?

you guys didn't look hard enough at his statement.

try tightening the two bolts that hold the steering shaft to the rack and up near where it goes into the firewall. second thing to do is turn the big adjusting nut on the rack to tighten it up. in this pic you'll see it on the right side shiny.

Getting the steering shaft back on was a PIA but I'll give try moving it closer to the firewall and tightening that big nut on the rack.

And what the HELL happened to your motor!!!!! Too much Nitrous, ey?

so, you replaced the rack? if so, then really check the bolt that holds the shaft to the rack. i thought i had mine tight enough at first. had hte slop and went back and tightened it more.

rack is stock, I replace the motor over the winter and dropped it out the bottom so I had to re-attach the steering shaft
