Whine Question...
OK. I noticed last Thursday my car was whining. I had my carrier assembly replaced last summer and the car is driving great. But I noticed a whine upon decel with my car. I thought it was the diff but on my way to work this morning that when I press the clutch in the whine goes away. I put my car on the alignment rack at my job and lifted the rear wheels so I could leave my car running in second. I did the old ratchet extension/stethoscope trick and I held it under the diff, nothing. Held it under the carrier bearing(2-piece driveshaft), nothing. Got to the trans and heard a whirring noise at the mount and tailshaft. My question is if there is an input or output shaft bearing that is on its way out. The trans shifts perfectly and does not bind. I don't have any ASEs yet but I need some input. My manager says the bearing is on the way out but I want further confirmation before I take the car to my tuner.

Sounds like it to me. Maybe check fluid level too, but more than likely it's the bearing.
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

OK. I drained the fluid and replaced with fresh Dexron 3. Gotta call my tuner and get a quote. Thanx Knight.
