Synchro keys and the 3-4 shift fork.

Not sure where you're getting your parts but I bought parts from thegearbox.org and their prices were the best I could find.

Speed is just a question of money. How fast can you go?

Output shaft is weak on these also. There are more items but I don't know what they are. I do know they "Viperize" them for use behind that 10 cylinder monster in the Viper.

I thought the old saying was, "how fast can you afford to go"

Agreed. Your rear-end will go before the T56 will in most instances. I was one of the lucky ones who broke my 3-4 synchro keys power shifting with only 12,000 miles on the car.

Like above said, the 3-4 fork (steel vs. alum) and the synchro keys (solid versus stamped hollow). There are also bronze bushings you can upgrade to as well as bronze fork pads.

Some people even have some of the parts cryogenic tempered.

What I printed is a direct quote from the movie, including the italicized you (as it was printed on the shop exterior wall)...

Lot's of folks paraphrase it though, myself included.

That is correct. Just has a 27 spline output, same weak output shaft used in 350 turbos as well as the smaller muncies of the day. They will twist if pushed to their limits. Makes the driveshaft very hard to slide in and out and then does other damage as a result
The vipers used a 32 spline output shaft, same as 400 turbos and the better muncies of the day. Also requires a 400 turbo style yoke (obviously) but that's also a nice upgrade needed. Do a nice driveshaft with 1350 yokes while you're at it.

Then I would definately Viperize it (as Jim puts it) because the stock 6 speed or even one with mild upgrades will not take that amount of power for long. My opinion, with that kind of power, if you want reliability in a manual trans you are going to have to spend some coin. I know people want to get off cheap, but this isn't one of those times. You may have to step back and save some money.
