Tranny Rebuild At 23000!!
Well, I've asked and asked about this st00pid reverse grinding and jumping issue.
Bought a 2000 Trans Am M6, 5 months ago at 12500 miles, and about 4 weeks ago, she started this crap.
So, took it back to the dealer, used warranty is gone, but they'll pay half, which is quite nice move on their part, though they quoted me 1700 just to fix reverse!!!
So, at 23500, she's in the shop gettin' torn to shreds. I hope that's the end of my problems, and the end of this wallet-rape.
My question: do I just have a bum car? or is it just bad luck? Ever heard of a rebuild at this mileage? Oh, and this is not my first stick-shift....so it ain't me. Love the car though.......but if she keeps goin' like this.....she's out.

Well, I'm only payin half that, plus, it's gonna be warranteed just like a new one. Also, I buy a tranny, pay for shipping, then removal of the other, and install of the new one, and find myself about 2500 in the hole. I'll take my deal, I think.

You said you bought it used so it may have had prior damage. As far as the miles go, there is no mileage limit on bad driving techniques. Alot of damage can happen in a few mis-guided advertures.

i guess. I spoke to the tech today. he showed me the damage. teeth were completely rounded off, plastic fork pads shredded...the whole rear gear assembly, synchro, fork....all of it is being swapped out. he said it was probably just a bad set of gears due to the damage.
He'll be checking all the other stuff like the slave, clutch...all the hydraulics.
