There are a lot of discussions on the web about "the right tranny oil".
Some say synthetic is bad for older trannies (older than 99) (??).
I have a 97 Borg Warner, I tried mineral ATF, synthetic ATF, GM synchromesh and so far the mineral ATF is the best.
With synthetic I had some grinding (!!), Synchromesh shifts smoother but it's a pain in winter: it needs to be warm or it will shift slow.
So far the cheapest was the better.

Reading an article in Gm High Tech about using synthetics in a m6. They say it is a bad idea cause it tends to cause leaks. I am staying away from syntheticsin mine just because of the leaks and mine has just been rebuilt. No need to start a problem that is not there already.

Switched to Royal Puprle about 6,000 miles ago which equates to about a year ago for my garage queen. No leaks so far....

That is good they were just saying that it tends to make it leak. I have thought about it but I know if it starts it won't stop, but mine has just been rebuilt about 5-6k ago. Getting ready to drain mine for the clutch install. Might go Royal Purple since I can buy it at cost.

ahhh the age old debate about synthetics......I think the best way to put it is you can't beat synthetics period!! If they do cause a leak how hard is it to change the front and rear seals????...not that hard at all......if you're pushing any kind of Torque do yourself a favor and use the synthetics......I only use Royal Purple......used to use Mobil 1 but found this to be better.....
