    2001 Trash Can

    Synchros or Hydraulics?

    Last night after ripping pretty hard on my car I could not get it out of 4th gear. When I finally did it got stuck in the gate going toward 5th and I couldn't move it but it finally cam back to life after a few minutes and I got it home. When I was pulling into my driveway the same thing happened but it was stuck in 2nd. I had to drop the clutch and mash it to get up the driveway and the car was barely moving..and it wasn't acting like a slipping clutch though..any ideas?

    Stuck in gear is a symptom of broken synchro keys. Time for a rebuild/upgrade!!

    Yup. happened to me at only 12K miles. Sucks a big one, but it's a pretty common problem. get the 3-4 steel fork while you're in there.

    I'm ok to pull the tranny out but I dont have a garage anymore nor the tools or precision measuring equipment to rebuild it so I'm just gonna send it out...It had been actin up for a while but drove the car pretty hard this weekend so it was only a matter of time...96k on the trans and bolt ons and a cam so it's about time it died lol
