define stiff... these cars have a pretty stiff clutch from the factory. Any high performance clutch will be stiffer. If you are used to driving a honda or something of the like, then these cars definitely feel like they have a stiff clutch

okay the clutch feels like it is 75 pounds... trust me it is alot harder then it should be. my left calf is like twice the size of my right one, lets put it that way.

The 98 will have a stiffer pedal than a newer one. They changed the hydraulics in later ones to give an easier pedal. My 2002 was a whole lot easier to clutch than my 98 was. If you update to the newer clutch master and hydraulics it will be alot easier to push. You could have a high performance clutch in there if someone has replaced it-usually they update the hydraulics if they are savvy about this stuff.

would the fact that i had no fluid in my master cyclinder the other day have nothing to do with. I had to put more liquid in it to fuil it up.

If it had air in the system, your pedal would just push to the floor and stay, so I would say no. It probably wasn't low enough to let air in. But I would check for leaks though. It shouldn't be low.

o it would go al the way to the floor and wouldnt let me put it in gear, until i put the fluid in and now it works fine.

Maybe there is something wrong with your slave or master cylinders then. Which ever one is leaking is probably what is making the pedal hard to push also.

i guess in order to chech it i have to take of the bellhousing?

If the slave is leaking, you should see a drip or some wetness coming out of or around the bottom of the bell housing. If it is the master leaking, you should be able to see it by looking under the dash where it comes through the firewall. To change the slave, you will have to pull the transmission. Not a hard job at all.

are you being sarcastic when you say not a hard job at all, or is it actually easy.
-

No it's pretty easy, as long as you have jacks/ jackstands etc.

Dont you ever wonder where the master cylinder liquid went??? That means if its not in the resoiver then its leaking, and it could be leaking into the clutch which could cause it to slip when you hit it. Rev your car to 4k rpms and if ur tires dont spin then its your clutch thats spinning instead. You got to take that shit apart put carb cleaner or brake caliper cleaner and leave the clutch disc drying in the sun. That is if the pressure plate isnt warped. I think you should sell your car to Jose for 7 grand

See the July (I think) issue of GM High Tech Performance. The guy swaps a auto tranny for a 6 speed but it gets pretty in depth on the manual tranny install. Doesn't look easy for him. Looks like a pretty tight fit. Figure out where the fluid is going first.

okay clutch was doing really good, but its starting to go back to how it use to be. I looked back at the resevior and it has a really slow leek somewhere and i cant see it. I dont see any fluid coming out of the bellhousing and i dont see any fluid anywhere. Would you adivse me just changing out the master cylinder? Seeing if that solves it then change the slave?
