SPEC sucks!!!

here is the long story short - SPEC stage 1 setup (steel flywheel, clutch disk and pressure plate) lasted under 5,000 miles on a bone stock WS6 Trans Am.

the long story is that I've driven a manual transmission cars as my DD's for the past 10 years and never had any issues. This set up was installed by a professional shop, and the proper break in procedures where followed. SPEC also refused to warranty anything.

I know some people like SPEC, but I had a horrible experience, their products instill zero confidence with me, and given the plethora of other set ups available I suggest no one take the chance on a SPEC stage 1 set-up.

all the spec clutches are hit or miss from what I hear and for the price I would not take the chance you should look into an ls7 clutch I hear good things about them on near stock cars

+1 on the ls7 clutch, roughly 400 for the clutch and ls2 flywheel. can't go wrong

I've been saying this for years. Junk. I recommend Mcleod clutches.

My Spec 3 lasted 2000 miles DD. Changed to a GM stocker and lost very little grip and gained much more drivability. Spec clutches do NOT like to be ridden. One good traffic jam, and your clutch is glazed.
