    scratching noise---throwout bearing?

i have a 98 ss with 100xxx. the clutch feels fine and i have no problem with slipping but i can hear a small scratching sound (only way i can describe it) and i think its the throwout bearing. has anyone else had this problem and is it a dangerous thing that i need to replace right away or is it not hurting anything. the noise isnt noticeable unless im in nuetral and no radio or anything on. im just wondering if it needs to be replace right away or can it wait bc if i get in there im gonna put new clutch, pressure plate, etc as well. Thanks......John

i was looking at spec clutch kits if i have to replace the throwout bearing and was wondering if anyone knew if its worth the $200 to buy the aluminum pressure plate. they say it gives 10-15 horsepower. They also said they have aluminum flywheels but didnt say how much and that it gives 10 more hp. does anyone know if this is true or is it a bunch of crap. and are these aluminum plates and flywheel as strong and reliable as oem? Thanks
