Problem in reverse
I havent ran into any problems with my tranny as far as the 1st thru 6th gears. But what i noticed as soon as i bought the car is that reverse wont stay into gear. When i back up i have to push and hold the shifter up or else it will grind the gear and everyone can smell burnt clutch. What can i do to fix this?

That is not good man. Mine use to jump out of 3rd gear and they had to put a new synchro and 3/4 shift fork. No problems anymore. Let a dealership drive it or get in with you. Especially if you know someone at a dealership.

When I bought my 98 Z-28, it would pop out of reverse as soon as you let up on the clutch. Turned out it was the reverse sychro sp.? Lucky for be it was a "GM Certified" used car and had a decent warranty. Dealer fixed it for free. They needed to replace the reverse sychro, reverse gear, and a bunch of bushing and stuff.....

How much do you think that would cost me if i went to my closest GM dealer?
Just an estimate.

sorry I cant give you an exact dollar ammount, but if I had to guess I would say no less than $1500.00.
When I got my car they gave me a recipt but because it was a warranty job, all the dollar ammounts for parts and labor were 0.
Sorry buddy

If you have not clash-shifted the box, the synchronizer should be ok. Be sure an iron 3/4 fork goes back in.
