    noise in my rear end

    Hello everyone,
I am a new member and this is my first post. I just bought a 2002 WS6 Trans Am last week and I have a noise that seems to be coming from the rear end. The car is a 6-speed manual and only has 30,000 miles on it. The drive shaft and U-Joints seem to be tight with very little slack between drive shaft movement and rear wheel movement. Any ideas?

if its when your turning its the "clutches" sticking. there is an additive that you can add that will eliminate the noise.

The noise is most present when I'm slowing down to stop at a stop light. sounds like something is loose in the rear of the car.

sort of a grinding noise, but not constant. Maybe like something has come loose and is rubbing up agains somthing ese. It comes and goes. It is most noticable around deep curves and when the car is rolling to a stop.

well... best guess is a) you have brake caliper that is sticking/stuck b) the LSD is making some noises as they can once in a while, mine tends to shudder a bit under the same conditions, If you are really worried it's not a big job to remove the diff cover and check it out.

I'm just afraid of what I will find when I pull the cover.

Sounds like the "can of marbles" noise. It's normal. Mine did it since day one. No additive will get rid of it and there's nothing wrong with it. Do a search for "marbles" cause no newbies ever believe it.
