ls1 with cam and a 6 speed in a 4440# pickup
I put a 6 speed behind my ls1 which was a auto before. I bought the trans off of eBay it only had 60,000 miles on it I put it in with the clutch and pressure plate that it came with but I can not get on it hard at all it just melts my clutch. Going to put a better one in but I am looking for options. Going to be used for street and strip so want one that can do both. I am going to add heads and possibly turbo soon so want something I can grow with. Give me some input thanks Steve.

There is a lot of debate on here on clutches and name brands. Everyone seems to have their own opinion. I personally went with a Spec Stage 3+ which is rated at 850 lb-ft of torque. I abused the clutch for about 10K miles on relatively stock power and drag radials and it didn't sneeze at it. Been running 500rwhp on the same clutch now the last 5-6K miles and it's still not sneezing. It grips hard and has never slipped.
Other people also have luck with Monster and RAM clutches.
Depends on how much you want to spend really. If you want to go even bigger, then look into McLeod and Textralia set-ups.
I'd suggest a LS7 set-up, but being that you're going to be running it at the track and possibly get a turbo, I'd go with something more aggressive.
Good luck!
