I have problems getting into 5th at WOT. I found out that it's probably a problem with the hydraulic system for the clutch. Try the drill mod. Or, you can get an adjustable master. Either way, when it's convenient, make sure you have the upgraded slave cylinder that came in the '01 and '02 cars. That should eliminate your issue.

Upgraded slave cylinder should fix that. Mine was doing the same thing, and i upgraded to the Z06 slave when i put my spec stage 2 in and haven't had any problems of the like since.

not right off, but i will try to find it. if you go to a parts store and ask for one for a 2001 Camaro SS it will be the same as a Z06's though.

I did a package deal to eliminate any cause and I'm absolutely LOVING it... the clutch can now handle more sh*t than the engine while chirping all over the fuggin place. I got a new Clutch/flywheel (this shouldn't help your problem), Adj.Master Cyl, Slave Cyl. - both from RAM - they're working great (oh yah - I also did the drill mod). Good luck solving your problem!

    I have the phase I.

Finally completed it. I had a little trouble bleeding it but once I figured that out I had no problem. So far it is working.

I am having similar problems. The clutch, flywheel and master were replaced 10,000 miles ago with McCloud parts and reciently the trans has become harder to shift. (It seemed fine before) Sometimes pops back out of 2nd. I checked the fluid and it was black like others have noticed. What is that from? I cleaned out the reservoir and refilled it. I plan on doing the drill mod this weekend to see if that helps. I will check to make sure the slave was replaced, but I'm pretty sure it was, with all the other parts they changed. Any sugestions? Thanks

    Drill mod ??

I hear so much about this "Drill Mod" but I can never fine any information on it. If anyone could Let me kow what this Mod is all about, PLEASE fill me in. I have a 99 and would love to get any extra grab that I can. I had my T56 rebuild abuot 4 months back, my trans. guy used a luker clutch/flywheel package, carbon fiber synchros and new 1st and 3rd gear. Now with this work done, if I shift at a bit lower rpm I can chirp into 4th consitantly, but I would still like to do the drill mod, cause every bit helps.

My tranny guy also informed me that the 98-99 fbodies had a weak slave cylinder and in 01-02 cars GM upgraded the slave cylinder to address this prob.
