    Hurst Question Help Please

Hi I was wondering if anyone can give me some help? I have a 98 Z28 with a T-56 and I just bought a Hurst Short throw shifter Part # 391-5060 and I don't think I like the Shifter Arm it looks way to long and it is not bent at the same angles as the factory shifter. I was wondering if the factory Hurst shifter Arm was shorter than the factory t-56 shifter arm? and does anyone have any pics of the Hurst Shifter part # 391-5060 in there car? Any help would be thanked.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a short shifter arm? I don't want one way to low and I dont want the truck shifter that came with the Hurst shifter.

    Shifter

I have a 02 SS w/the Hurst shifter option. I replaced the shifter arm w/a shorter straight arm from the WS6 store and a Hurst pistol grip handle. I really like this combo over what I had, it feels more solid and mechanical feel and my hand falls right onto the pistol grip. The throw is shorter and it feels more directly connected to the tranny.

I think a pistol grip shifter would make it harder to hit gears quickly & accurately. To me it seems like the hand position is very awkward They look good though.

    Pistol Grip

With the shorter stick and the way I have the shifter slghtly angled toward me my hand falls right on it, I do some target shooting so this does seem natural to me and it does look really good.

I shoot too, but the way your hand is you can't use any good shifting techniques with your hand other than the one position.

Machine it down (or have someone do it). I machined mine down to 6.5" (including the threads) and it feels perfect. Originally, I thought it might be too short/hard to shift/somehow awkward. Had it for 2 months now and wouldn't go back. I'll post some pics this weekend so you can see what it looks like. Next step is to finish my stainless piece in Solidworks, cut it out on the laser cutter, CNC to dimension and polish. With the laser, I can cut any alphanumeric sequence directly into the stick. I have to delete the shifter boot, but it should look sweet.
