Grinding is starting to get baddd..

My 2000 WS6 hit 100k miles last week and 2nd gears syncro is shot around 4 rpms and 3rd at about 2.8, its starting to get pretty annoying having all the power in the world and a trany that is going, what is the cheapest and best way to fix my problems??

once you loose 3rd you will automatically lose 4th also...if you lose second you could potentially lose 1st...sounds to me like something broke and is sending shrapnal all through the case...get that trans out and have someone rebuild it...if you mar up 4th gear your screwed....4th gear is like $600, because it is the input shaft...its not like the rest of the gears that can be pressed on and off the mainshaft...syncros are a lot easier to replace than having to shell out money to buy new gears too....when you do pull it out...put the upgraded shift forks in, billet strut keys, and kevlar blocker rings...you will be happy you did

I agree. I waited too long after I lost 5 & 6 to have it rebuilt. There must have been some metal flying around. I took it in after I heard something banging around in neutral. 3rd, 5th and 6th gears were damaged. The shop suggested a rebuilt tranny as mine was too costly to bebuild. They put in a Rockland upgraded rebuilt tranny. It was costly, but worth it.

I'd just go talk to joe at t56 rebuilds.com.He'll give a good price on a box that's affordable and has a gaurantee
