Grinding in reverse
I got my car back from the transmission shop. Over the summer i blew the syncros. The car runs fine now but when i put it in reverse it starts grinding and scraping. It wont go into gear completley. Then when i release the clutch and start to hit the gas it starts grinding. Basically i cant get my car in reverse. Well im taking it back sometime soon before the warrenty expires, but any1 know what might be wrong?

Try lightly depressing the clutch pedal and if you stil hear the grinding noise, you may have a problem with your release bearing or clutch.

If you have an aftermarket shifter, the stops are prolly out adjustment. If its stock, they missed changing the reverse components on your rebuild...or both.

the camaro / firebird GM manual that comes with the car, says you SHOULD shift into second gear then reverse when you want to back up, i've been doing it and it goes in much easier, something about syncing up the syncros

same goes for putting it into first gear, from a stop when you're in neutral you're supposed to put it into second gear then first, not letting out the clutch of course for this and the above
