Finally happened
I decided to drive the TA to work since it was nice outside. Nothing went wrong on the way to work but when I was leaving it finally decided to go.
I started her up and let out the clutch because I had to gather my papers and I noticed the pedal wouldn't come all the way up. Huh I thought. I pushed the clutch in and put her in reverse and slowly release it. The next thing I know she jerks backwards. I thought to my self, "This isn't good." With the backward motion I had enough room to put her in first and get ready for the drive home. I only live .8 of a mile from the house so it isn't like I had a long trip ahead of me. I started to get on the main street and with the clutch all the way in it felt like it was grabbing and it then the engine died. I noticed while the car was running it wouldn't come out of 1st. After it died it released and I could pull it out of first gear. I worked her home. Short trip. The whole way I had to pump the clutch to get enough pedal to allow me to take off at a light or stop sign.
Well I have an LS7 Clutch, Flywheel, and Pressure Plate, Slave, Pilot and Throw-out bearing waiting to be put in.
Now I wonder if I shouldn't just order a 01-02 Master while I'm at it.

I just put a new clutch kit in mine and I decided to go with the new slave and master as well. I think it's a wise move..

Do you think its worth getting an adjustable master or just sticking with one from the 01-02?

The adjustment allows you to "adjust" where on the pedal the clutch is fully released. With the stock master cyl in my car, the clutch wouldnt be fully released untill just about the top of the pedal. So the process of it being released was for lack of a better term longer. Now with the adjustable. where half-way on your pedal would be, mine is fully released. this allows me to plant my heal on the floor an and pivit just my ankle to engauge/disengauge the clutch. The adjustment allows you to decide how far off of the flywheel the clutch comes. So less movement = faster shifts...... in therory Hope that some what makes sence.
Oh and hello

2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
Makes perfect sense, but it would take me for - freaking - EVER to get used to that Especially as much as I drive my car everyday...though it might make the stop and go easier on my legs maybe next time...I've put almost 50k on the 'new' setup, so who knows when I'll have to replace it again.

Well I just ran into an issue.
I received my master today but it has a huge yellow sticker on it that says "For V6 Only."....... Umm.
Part Number # 12565144
Says on GMPartsdirect that
For the Pontiac Firebird this.
"Master cylinder, all models, 5.7l"
So its what I ordered.
Does any one know if the V6 will fit the V8???

Thanks.
They better not charge me for any thing. It says on there website 5.7l all models...
And man this was the last part I needed to fix my car.. ugg.
I can't return the product. It is considered a "special-order item."....
I guess I might be posting about selling this partLast edited by flipsutter; 07-16-2009 at 12:51 PM.

I just followed what it said on there. O wells.
I'm going to replace everything except that for now and see what happens.
Does any one have a walk through on removing the center console? I gotta get this done tonight before I have it sent to my brother in laws house.
I went to gmpartsdirect.com and this is what I came up with.
12565144 $283.25 $147.25
Clutch - Hydraulic system - Master cylinder
Master cylinder, all models, 5.7l 2001 - 2002
