Is this something that you can take care of in an hour or two in your garage or is it a complicated mod becasue I would like a pro 5.0 even thought I currently have the Hurst.

Yes! Its very simple. I was only 17 when i did it myself so its very easy. A craftsmen tool set, and some RTV was all i needed i think.

i have the B&M and i love it. the second to third shift is so smooth. it took me about 1/2 hour to change the shifter. easy and worth while MOD.

I prefer the B&M over the Pro 5.0, both are really nice though.

If you have an after market shifter, did you adjust the stops so that the gears engage fully? Just an idea. Other than that, I'm not sure. And how did you notice this? I've never tried to pull my car out of gear while driving w/o disengaging the clutch.

I have a B&M and couldn't be happier with it. The price wasn't so bad either.

well i got the stock hurst shifter from my boys ws6 i dont know if you consider it aftermarket or but one day i was just resting my hand on the shifter and i was "gangsta leaning" and i sat up to turn and i was still holding ther shifter and it came out with out clutch. i dunno a few buddies of my had said that there is nothing wrong but im that type of guy that worries if things aren't right with my car.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you start to have problems engaging the gear, like noise, or knocking, then you have a synchro problem.

This happened with my '98 a while back. I noticed noise while engaging 5th. Eventually, I couldn't get into 5th at all. I changed out the synchros and put in the steel shift fork. All better after that.

I'd love to try out both. I was torn between the both of them. I was about to buy the B&M, but clicked on the 5.0 instead, that's how torn I was. I had the 5.0 in my TA and I loved.

Like 1LE4ME said above, make sure you adjusted the stops correctly.
