    Clutch Issues

To start out, i've been having issues the past 2 days with my clutch. The problem is when I downshift into gear or select first sometimes it makes a low whine/almost grinding noise(Never really grinded the gears, don't know if its actually grinding) and gets harder to shift into it. I've noticed it seems it only really does it in 1,3, and 5 gears and at lower(1500-2500 RPMs). I don't know if i've just noticed those certain gears or if its a coincidence, but I need help diagnosing as this is my first manual. I've been told the symptoms sounds like the throwout bearing, but i'm not positive of what it is. I'm trying to not only teach myself but also graduate from the noob stage and do the work myself. Thanks for any info/help
Also, Trans/Stock clutch have 78k on it. Also it has the WS6store.com short stick installed. I removed it and replaced with the stock shifter to see if the noise went away, but it still makes the noise

Alright I really listened for any more clues that might help me out and realized something. The clutch pedal when depressed is actually making the noise, but its alot quieter than when I shift. When I shift it amplifies and is more of a vibration(maybe grinding?) noise, and it only does it sometimes usually when I downshift and select gears around 1200-1300 RPMs or when i'm idling and selecting first. I don't know what it is, sounds to me like the clutch

Try this to better diagnose it:

Put the car in neutral and let it idle. With the clutch released (pedal out) does it make any noise??

Now push the clutch to the floor, still in neutral, and listen again. Does it make the noise??

Released in neutral, it makes no noise. Depressed in neutral, it makes noise. Whats that a symptom of?

Thanks man. Thats what I was leaning towards. Is it something that in the end will screw up the clutch disc if its not fixed? And is it just easier to wait to replace the clutch to do it, or should I just invest in a new clutch asap?
