    Angry Clutch going bad???

So, this is my first post and I was wondering if anyone had any insight.

I think my clutch is going because.....
    - Last year before I put my car away for the winter a couple times my gear would grind when downshifting into first and sometimes when I am putting the car in reverse.
    - This year last week I took my car out and all in the same day I backed out of the driveway and put the car in first and let the clutch out and the shifter popped out of gear. WTF..... so I decided since I hadn't driven it in like 2 weeks I'd leave a massive burnout to feel better and the clutch never engaged fully, afterwords I could smell like the clutch didn't fully engage (does that make sense?) But, I was moving forward....just no burnout. I had the TCS off because I'll never drive with it on just in case a race breaks out!

So, I have a Black 98' SS .... 70,000 miles and just installed a Pro 5.0 but don't think that has anything to do with it.....I've driven it many times after the install and done many burnouts since..and I've driven a stick for half my life so it's not driver error..LOL

    What is going on???

So did you actually do a burnout or not, I'm alittle confused. If sounds like you tried but it just did happen because the clutch was slipping. No if you smell burning clutch thats usually a good sign that your clutch is shot.

I agree with Jon. Mine was doing the same thing. Sounded like I was doing a burnout, but no tire spin, and then you could smell the clutch. It eventually got so bad, I could notice the clutch slipping when I downshifted and hammered on it in second and third gears. I got my clutch Monday, and it's getting fixed Thursday.

i have a centerforce dual friction jobby ive had in for 3 years, i just have a few basic engine and suspension bolt ons and i sometimes smell clutch every now and then. After a race its fades and doesnt engage as well so i wouldnt say smelling clutch means its failing...
