    Which clutch?

I have a ls1 motor that pushes about 400 horse to the wheels. I was wondering which clutch I should run. Should I get an Ls6 clutch?

Ive heard the LS7 clutch is really good for the price, and they can easily handle 500HP.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not get the LS6 clutch! My 01 SS makes a little over 400 rwhp and I put a new ls6 clutch in it about 2500 miles ago. It slips so bad, I'm on today to get ideas for a different clutch. I'm thinking a SPEC stage 2+. The ls6 clutch has been nothing but problems since I've had it. This is actually the second one in 3k miles b/c the first died when the slave went out. Hope this helps...

Wow ONLY 2500 miles. Just curious, but what kind of driving do you do. Do you take it to the track alot.

Hasn't been to the track yet. Its my daily driver and the clutch was broken in properly too. I don't drive Miss Daisy, but I don't beat on the car either. I haven't even broken the tires loose with this clutch yet.

The stock 02 Z06 clutch is the LS6 clutch we're talking about.

I know, I was just suggesting the LS7 clutch because it will work better for him.

I was replyin' to Danger on that 1. But, what does an LS7 clutch cost anyway? I haven't heard of anyone using one in an F-Bod yet. It'd probably cost more than the Spec clutch though. Its only $499 and will handle 620 ftlbs of torque, so it may be cheaper and actually perform better.

Spec 3+ is the way to go. Great clutch.
    www.specclutch.com check it out.
Dont get any GM clutch they are way to soft of material and lack clamping power.

I've had good results with my Centerforce 12" DF....but it may be a bit much....you could go with the stock size version, or the DFX.....alotta people I know have good luck with the Spec 3 also...

well your doing pretty at the wheels I recomend the Spec clutch 2 Plus only if you plan to stay in that range If not get the Stage 3 plus kit I have one one on my LS1 6spd and its great it can handle some very hard launches of the line. Make sure your get a new spec flywheel best to match it up with the same kit aluminum is good but if its for the street get the steel fly

yea i know but i don't want to spend $1700 for a clutch set. gm parts has the ls6 clutch set for 400 and ls7 for 700 don't u think those are more reasonable prices specially for my car that's only putting out 350rwhp?
