Can anyone give me better details to the Pro 5.0 spring mod?

I couldn't find anything descriptive on a search.
I know it involves washers. What diameter and thickness/ Where do they go?

    Thanks.

Took a spring with me to the hardware store and bought two a little longer.Sears Hardware has a bin with around 20 drawers of springs! The shifter is back together now but haven't reinstalled it yet.Seems like it should work.It feels more springy.Try it,also they have bins and bins of spacers and washers....found a couple of nylon spacers that might do the trick, bought those also.Good Luck and Merry X-mas!!!

So what exactly does this spring mod do, and I put a short stick on my stock shifter. I guess I can't do it to mine?

Not a mod but more of a repair on a Pro 5.0 that doesn't spring back to neutral like when new.I called the factory and was told no repair kit was available so .............
Here is the link I found on repair with great pics!

Wow, thats too bad the there is no repair support for the 5.0. Too bad for those who bought them- kinda a buyer be ware note. This is where quality counts. Both in in product and customer service.
I would caution anyone dittling with the springs and washers on their own. You can easily cause a spring to go solid and that jambing can either damage the pivot pin or the half- sphere/ socket of the shifter's internals. In fact, wear to these parts may be why there's a return problem in the first place.
BTW The Hurst guys not only offer the replacement sorings but offer a kit that allows you to calibrate the load( it has several spring combos). Still glad I got a Hurst.

Mine is brand new, but I still added 3 small washers per side and it feels just right. I still wish I had got the Hurst Billet Plus instead.

I can't say I ever heard of this before. If it happens to me I'll be sure to give them a couple of ear fulls and then some if they won't fix it or send me the stuff to fix it.

I could never find a link to the sales of Hurst springs, but I know they will rebuild your shifter for around 90.00$.Pro 5.0 probably does the same, but I had asked for parts because it's not hard to take apart as the photos show. But they said no.I might of tried to use Hurst springs if I could of found out where to but them.

Anybody want to trade a hurst billet plus for a pro5.0? It's only got about 20 miles on it. It feels good it's just not a hurst and my car has the hurst option. I'd like to keep it original (sorta).
