Best clutch fluid?!?
I would think it would be beneficial to use the best clutch(brake) fluid in your clutch system right?? Well I have been using regular Dot 3 and changing it frequently (at least once, if not more than once a week).. I would think if I could get my hands on some better fluid, like some Dot 4 or even Dot 5 with a higher boiling point, If it will work with our systems it wont get as hot and boil as fast as regular Dot 3 and turn black and get murky... I am pretty sure Dot 4 will work in our systems but where would be the best to get some new fluid? Would Dot 5 work like in the Viper's? Thanks guys!

wow thats alot of changing so by changing are you saying you drain and flushthe system? if that is what your doing it should stay clean for a long time I believe brake fluids are not all compatable sorry couldn't help with that but make sure to use one that is good luck

Basically I just use a syringe to get all the fluid out of my clutch master cylinder, put new fluid in, go around the block pumping the clutch, change it out again... And basically Rinse, Lather and Repeat until it is all clear...

Steelman I got your pm and will post in here as well for others. Dot3 is fine just be sure to keep the fluid fresh and clean. Make it a regular maintence to change the clutch fluid. Most dot4 will work with dot3 and usually have a higher boiling point and are not that much more expensive. There is no perfect fluid all fluid will deteriate over time and abuse so be sure to change it regularly.

HOLY COW you change your clutch fluid almost EVERY week???? Is it a daily driver with MUCH stop and go????
Post up a good tutorial, id like to know exactly how you change all your fluid w/out taking everything apart to bench bleed the master!

As for bleeding the system take a look at the link in my sig Is your clutch pedal sticking?
You can change the fluid in the resivor every week eventually you will get most of the old fluid out and new in. I don't recomend this way untill you have done a full bleed of the system, once you have bleed the system it is a good idea to regularly change the fluid in the resivor. Every time you change your oil is probably a good starting point it its getting dirty faster than that go ahead and to it more regurally. If you take your car to the track on a regular basis I also recomend you change it after every time at the track. The key to keeping these systems working correctly is keeping the fluid clean and fresh.

Here's a question... What if you are replacing all of your hydrolics, like me.. And you are going to be starting with new fluid and you use a higher boiling point fluid like DOT 5 even though its not compatible to mix with DOT 3 or DOT 4.. but as long as you stick with DOT 5, you should be bet better off right?

Take a look at this link it has a chart with brake fluid boiling points. Theres only 2 dot5 but there are there are at least half a dozen dot3 and dot4 that have a higher boiling point. Personally I just run a dot4.
