    94-97 T56 Questions

    Hello,

I will being swapping a T56 (94-97) into my 91' Camaro with an LT1 very soon to replace my 4l60E. Furthermore, I was wondering if any one year is better then the next or if there are any common problems with the T56 from these years (i.e weak parts)? Also, what should be done before the install to make sure this goes as smooth as possible?

    Thanks,
    Jay

I know for certain the 97 trans has the 2.66 first gear and the .50 overdrive.
This may have started in 96 as well but I'm not certain. But the early year t56's have a steeper first gear ratio with a different gear spread,,,they are not as strong as the later year T56's. I'd stick to the later boxes if you can.

Make a parts list. I would search this forum if no one replys because I know there have been write ups about an Auto to T56 swapp in the past.
