5.0 Shifter w/ Lou's short stick or just 5.0 Shifter

what is the benifit of getting the 5.0 shifter w/ Lou's short stick.
vs 5.0 with the stick it comes with.

How much "shorter" is the throw by using this combo?

I read that Lou's stick shortens the stock throw by 20%. So what is the percentage of...

5.0 Shifter shortens the throw __________ %
5.0 Shifter w/ Lou's stick shortens the throw __________%

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!!

i got ws6 store shortstick, $25 instead of $50 for lou's, i bent mine over in the vise so it looks just like (and feels) just like lous short stick.......

WOW - that sounds like a really short throw..

To be honest, I don't know where on the stick to bend it, nor how much to bend the other stick.. So i wouldn't mind paying the extra for it, to already be "bent".

But thank you for the info.. It sounds like my next Modification.

lol its very easy....all you need is a vise and pipe, put the whole flat part of the bottom of the stick in the top of the vise and bend the top over a half inch!!

Thanks, To put it in perspective for everyone.... I pay for oil changes, and the only tools I own, are two screw drivers, a hammer, and a pair of pliers. They stay in a junk drawer in the kitchen.

But while we are on the topic, why is the stick bent in the first place? to Mimic the stock stick? Does it serve a function?

well the reason its bent is bent so the knob is centered with the center of the boot, the bottom of the stick where it bolts to the shifter is to the right of the center of the boot.

To install a shortthrow shifter you need: 7mm socket& 1/4 ratchet, 13mm & 10mm sockets & 3/8 ratchet, rtv sealant, and a allen wrench of unknown size.

or you could use your pliers, but that would be a bitch and take twice as long.
