Yea they really wake it up from lower speeds.

Downside is you end up shifting constantly, especially around town. And of course you run more RPM's on the highway.

Those should be obvious expectations. A few hundred more RPM's on the highway is next to nothing.

OP, glad you liked the gear change. Hope the 10 bolt stays together for you.

I have 4.10's, still too many RPM's on the highway for my preference, and way too much shifting in normal driving. I'd go back to 3.42's in a heartbeat if I went with F/I.

i have to disagree with you wes,i think its the perfect combination on a 6 spd car but i have not drove one with 373 gearing or 342,s.all i know is the car is really really responsive now.i drove it 165 miles a few days ago and besides all the noises in the car it was a nice smooth drive.at one point i was in the 80-90 range and rpm,s were not that high and had plenty left.then i got back home and drove my automatic and man what a difference in response and my auto is pretty beefed up.just not the same drive as a 6 speed 410 car..

I'm not saying its a bad combo, you're definitely right, it really wakes the car up. However, as I said, its still a lot of gear for daily driving. I'm in 5th by 35MPH if I'm just cruising, thats pretty short gears.

Wow, I can honestly say I have never, ever been in 5th gear at 35 MPH. I don't think that is the "norm" for most 4.10 users.

Wow. I use 5th all the time, even down below 30 MPH. Won't hurt anything except throttle response. If you look at the RPM when the skip shift forces the car into 4th, it's around 800 RPM into 4th at ~18 MPH! I just ease on the gas when the RPM is that low, whatever the gear I'm in.

I have the stock 3.42 gears, would like 4.10s, glad the OP is happy, makes me want them even more.

Hey, with 4.10s maybe we can use 6th gear to really see what the top speed is. 1900 at 70 (vs. 1550 stock) equals 3800 @ 140 MPH, the RPM where the engine starts to make some HP. I've been 142 in 5th, on some non-disclosed test track, briefly.

I have to agree as well im in 5th gear at 35mph when cruising. I love my 4.10's for a car that just has regular bolt ons it really wakes it up. Im not sure if its a great idea once i install nitrous, lol.
