    Angry 3rd gear problems

    I just purchased a 02 SS with 12k original miles and I am having issues with 3rd gear. During normal driving I will shift to 3rd gear and it feels like its in gear and then it will grind and then pop out of gear. Any ideas on what this could be? Its only with 3rd, the other gears seem fine.

    This is a common problem. Search for bent/ wallowed out 3/4 shift fork.

    upgrade your 3-4 fork to viper spec/ect ...it is also a good idea if your going to get into the tranny to replace anything..that you replace all the forks and syncos ect to dodge viper specs..also worth noting is that if you can only afford to get the 3-4 fork replaced..which always go bad...to also upgrade to a pro 5.0 shifter ect...the stock shifter has tooo much play in its gate..and over stresses the forks ...causing them to bend ect...so for good measure upgrade to a aftermarket shifter....pro 5.0 is a very common one around here...check out the sponsor's website.

    actually i dont think rossler transmission does t-56s...manual transmissions...so i'd google "t-56 rebuild" good luck man p.m me if you need anything else

    1 more question. If it is a shift fork what am I looking at in cost to get it fixed? Any ideas?

    The cost of a pull, teardown and ,at least, an iron 3/4 shift fork. Maybe more parts but the pull & teardown will be the major portions of cost.
