driveshaft rubbing due to improper mounting of eng/trans, bad u-joints, cross-member not isolated, differential issues, engine component touching the body under load, exhaust touching body under load. Really, something like this is rather hard to help with.

^^^^ yeah trying to narrow everything down to possibilities. The bad torque arm can cause bad mpg is what your saying yes?

Nope. A bad torque arm mount will result in clunks and bangs emanating from under the car and there is a potential for it to cause other damage if not fixed.

Jeff is spot on. Get your torque arm mount fixed before it takes out something with it.

In the 10th, 11th, and 12th picture there is a round bushing that is severly rotten. Underneath the tranny it seems to look like. Not sure what this is?Last edited by flybird; 02-19-2012 at 07:23 AM.

The torque runs down the center of the car adjacent to the driveshaft. It connects at the transmission tailstock on the driver side in the front and to the differential housing in the rear. There is a clamp style mount with a rubber bushing and this is most likely what has let loose.

We posted at about the same time -- looked at the pics and the front torque arm mount appears to be intact. The transmission mount is a little odd looking to me -- grab the bag of your transmission and see if it is loose in the mount. There's obviously a bit of weight to it, but if the mount is fried you will be able to move it around by hand.

Top center of the pic is your torque arm bushing and it appears to be ok. There is a clamping bolt at the very top (can't see in the pic) that lets loose and the clamp then falls open allowing the torque arm to slap around.

mount dont move. The bushing that connects from mount to tranny is rough looking. Jeff seems to be saying the clamp could be loose.

that is possible but kinda unlikely imo but i dont know? but the bushing that connects the mount to the tranny is what holds it if the bushing rips the trans is loose! under throttle the trans will want to lift if the mount is bad then the transmission lifting would throw off your driveshaft angles causing a vibration and noise, increasing with speed!!!

Ill use more muscle into it. Couldnt I just replace the bushing and not the whole mount? Mount not cracked or broken... Just bushing.
