    What would you do?

I've got an '89 GMC 1/2 ton. It is stock with a 350, 4-speed auto (I'm assuming 4l60), & 120,000 miles. Truck is in good condition except the clutches for 3rd gear or ate up. I've got a quote of $1300 to get it rebuilt. I'm not sure I want to sink that much in a 21 year old truck.

89 might be 700r4. Do it, nothing worth having car payment on out there this year.

I think I'm gonna get it fixed and then put it up for sale. In the mean time keep my eye out for a good deal on a 2007 or newer used truck. I got told about one yesterday and if everything I was told is true, it is a real good deal. I'm gonna check it out today.

700r4 with an aluminum transfer case (if 4x4).. The 700r4 is a weak trany imho. I blew one up behind a 135hp 2.8 v6 before.

Your in the same boat as me. I have been looking for chevy trucks and suv's for 5 months watching prices and MAN everone knows it's Tax season. Jacking up prices to rip people off of those refunds. I went into one dealer that had a 2002 envoy 4x4 with 120k on it and he wanted 11k. When he told me the price I slipped and said f++k off!!! LOL I just walked away in shock. I would not have given him but about 5 to 6k for that stipped down 4x4.
