what kind of damage am I looking at?

ok so I let my dumbass of a friend sit in my car and rev it a little today, as he finished reving it he put it into drive without waiting for the revs to go completely down on accident(we both almost shit ourselves when it happaned), he said it was at about 1.5-2k rpm. As he did it I heard a huge clang and the car launched forward Afterwards while driving it around everything seems fine and the same as before, but am I looking at any kind of potential problems because of this in the future? Should I get anything looked at?

When I was younger I knew someone who would neutral drop rental cars at much higher RPM's.

They all lived,I am sure yours is OK after 1 at a relatively low RPM.

I doubt that you damaged the pump seal which would be the most likely part to fail.

You would have a red puddle under your car.

The clunk you heard was probably the U Joint taking up the shock to the driveline.

The trannies built a bit tougher than you think, when GM does the durability/validation tests they have test drivers doing neutral drops and everything else imaginable.

i knew a retard who would N drop his gand marquis, if that big ass boat would handle daily N drops i think GM's 4l60e should be able to handle it. i would worry about the rear end before the transmission in that case, which that was the first thing to explode in that big ass boat....

that's re-assuring to know, it was so hard to keep a straight face after she did it and act like it was no big deal, scared the shit out of me, I'll never get that clang sound out of my head
