Trickflow 515 Top End kit.. 3800 stall? Brand?

I'm purchasing a 515 Hp (crank) Top End kit from Trick Flow, and they told me i need a stall. They suggested 3800, and I'm not sure which brand i need for dd and occasional abuse..... After spending 3k+ for heads and cam, i'm on a budget! So how much do i need to allocate for a stall? What brand? Remember, the goal is longevity!

I would get the stall a good one, and not beat on the transmission until u can afford to beef it up to hold the power..

the 4L60E is only rated to hold 300hp

I planned keeping the torque management ON in the computer, and even increasing the retard until i can afford a sufficient drive train...

Torque managment really isn't an isue if your going to DD it. Not beating on it means don't drop the hammer or you will drop the trans sooner than you plan. If you don't do any 3/4 to wide open shifts or hole shots it should be ok for a while but remember that the harder you run it the more wear you are going to put on that stock trans. I would also go ahead now and put a trans cooler in for that stall converter other wise the stock trans will die from heat. Have someone build your trans up to hold the power or by a rebuilt unit from a place like Preformabuilt. I have LT1 that I am going to be doing Trickflow heads on and will be in the same hp range. I bought a preformance rebuilt trans to take the abuse.

Preformabuilt has a leve 2 good up to 700 fly wheel hp for like 1850 and a level 1 good up to 500 flywheel for 1600. You could find someone local and have the stocker built. I live near Tampa FL and local shops wanted around 1500 to 1800 to do a preformance build.

I am not sold on trick flow; I've actually been looking harder at Texas Speed heads & cam packages..
