    Unhappy Transmission mount?????

Why is it soooo hard to get a trans mount for a 1998 trans am ws6 automatic?? I've gone everywhere and they keep saying they don't even have it listed on the computer. If it's a common part that fails wouldn't it be common to get?
Anyone know where to get a good trans mount for me car?? I would appreciate it immensly!

    -Thanks

most autozones carry the poly energy suspension transmission mount you need. i think when i went only stock ones showed on their computers. the energy suspenstion didnt come up.

i haven't since i felt the clunk. I've been taking it easy. saves gas too.
i'm going to LTI and hopefully will be able to take it in the shop to replace the part soon. having a hard time finding the right one. They have universal ones and performance ones, but i'm fairly new to the parts and pieces and how they look so it's been a pain.
i've gotten some suggestions and guys that want to help or know someone or somewhere where they can find me a mount. Yours looks unbreakable!!

I had a problem of breaking 1 per month. So i made my own custom Aluminum cover to prevent it from flexing as much and breaking.

I keep seeing this trans mount when i type in the car info. But it doesn't look like what you have. Does this look right? From Summit's website.

Yeah that part form summit is right. It just doesnt look it. Also, go back to your local parts store, and tell them to look it up under a different yr. I dont know what yr the auto changed, but when I had to get the trans mount for my M6, I was going through hell because no one had it. Turns out they all had it, just not listed for a 99. Went back to a 96-97 (just keep trying the yrs until they hit one on the shelf) and looked at what they had and it was the right one.

does it matter though that 97's are LT1's vs 98's being LS1's? Same transmission? I thought there was a slight difference.

They all Physically look the same to me. Im pretty sure they all use the same Crossmember and mount. But I could be wrong.

That's the one but I have had better success with the energy suspension model. I got mine at autozone. I also ground down the two humps on the bottom of the mount. It eliminated alot of vibration. There was a thread a while back that talked about it.

Interesting. I'll see how this one feels ie; vibration, how long it last, etc.

    Thanks for the tip!

Go with the "Prothane" mount, they are model specific, the "Energy Suspension" is a generic GM mount.

so is it going to fit? I put in the specifics and that's what came up on the "summit" website. Will there be some mods I need to prepare myself for?

With the energy susension mount, it comes with plates, and has bumps on the actual mount that you may or may not have to shave, on the other hand the prothane mount is already to be installed, no plates, no bumps, no bullsh@t.
