    trans shifting problems??

a few weeks ago my trans(auto) starting shifting kind of funny. i thought since the car is 7 yrs old it was the trans fluid. i changed it and flushed it. it started running smoother but as soon as i jumped on the gas *(bang) it hit the rev limiter and now it shifts really high into second on normal driving. two different shops told me i need a complete rebuild, but i find it hard to believe because my 99 t/a has 17,000 miles on it, im the original owner and i rarely even beat on it. if you have any ideas i would GREATLY appreciate it. im new to this board but was a member previously in 98-00. thanx

I Am Betting That Your Not Experiencing A Late Shift To Second Or A Nuetral When Nailed But Rather Have Pulled Through The 2-4 Band Pin Manually Shift The Tranny Do You Have Four Gears That Way Or Just Two

right you are. second gear is completely shot. i cannot believe it. the transmission guy said that it looks like the second gear band has over 100,000 miles on it. he seems to think it must have been defective, but didnt show up because i have such low mileage on the car. i guess contacting GM and showing them the defective parts is a waste of time.

yes it would be a complete waste of time , be sure that the replacement is along the lines of the rabestos hp band or better yet a wide band (not kevlar)with a new drum
