tranny slips going uphill
Yesterday my tranny started slipping some. It shifts smooth but when in OD and going uphill it starts to slip. I changed the filter about 8 months ago.

Make sure you didn't over fill it. That wil cause that as well. Before you go having it rebuilt, have the trans side and engine side of the computer scaned for codes. Post them and find out what they are. If it is slipping it should throw a trans slip code.

i would have to agree. when mine is drive and i start on a hill i can def feel it slip backward then catch. its very noticable. but if im in 1 2 or 3 its fine. i dont get it. the tranny fluid looks great and at perfect level. i dont get it. and there is no code or light being thrown.

Have you had it scanned? trans codes don't usually throw lights and they can't be scaned by just any OBD1 or 2 scanner, just in case you didn't know. Are you sure it is going into lockup? If you have a bad TCC solenoid it would keep it from going into lockup. TCC only activates in 3 and 4 gear.

Torque converter lock-up kinda feels like a fifth gear. So if you start out from a stop you're in first gear, you feel a shift, now in second gear, feel shift, third gear, feel shift, forth gear, then feels like half a shift, that forth gear with torque converter lock-up.

Slap a shift kit in it. Itll shift harder and should eliminate the slipping. My trans is fine but as soon as i finishing fixing and paying off the car im putting one in. Itll already chirp second if i wind it out, so it might already have one in it.

To have the trans side of the PCM scanned you will have to look at the dealer. Auto Zone can only do the engine side. You might find a trans guy that has made tester to look at line pressure and signals from pcm. Alot of good trans guys can figure out what is wrong with them just by watching the pcm's shift signals, line pressure and the feel of a shift the trans gives them.

Autozone should be able to do transmission codes. Those codes are stored in the same place as engine codes. Autozone scans the PCM aka Powertrain Control Module. The PCM controls both the engine and trans.

hmmm...
could be your tcc but if its not slipping in 3rd or 2nd as well its prolly your tcc. your 2-4 band is on in 2nd and 4th so if it was going out you'd feel 2nd going away too. and if your 3-4 clutches were burning up you feel 3rd going away. check you tcc control solenoid

i dont know, i think im in trouble now, as soon as she warms up she starts acting funny now, take off from stop light and she doesnt engage right away, itll rev a couple hundred then engage and give a nice little bump in the ass, sometimes it feels pretty ruff, i dont think shes gonna make it much longer, also when i come to a stop it seems like it doesnt wanna disengage either, and jerks a little bit as im trying to stop her. damn my luck, looks like i have to hold of on putting the turbo together. it sucks, cuz i have everything i need now and she taking a shit on me. i really dont know what im going to do, i dont have the cash to rebuild and if i did i would just do a performabuillt lvl2 anyway. damn my luck, looks like i have to sweet talk the boss into a tool account. lol
