TQ converter bolt help....
So I got under my car to remove the tq converter bolts via the flywheel and I was under the impression that they were hex style bolts. However these are allen key bolts and I was wondering if anyone has come across this and what their size is.

been a long time since I've done converter bolts.....pretty sure it's an 8mm metric allen wrench. I know the 98's got the allen bolts and the others got regular bolts.

not sure...GM has had a love affair with allen bolts and torx bolts for years. I've done countless brake jobs where the caliper was mounted with allen bolts. What a shitty bolt to use in that application too. The last one I did was on my neighbors 1500 series truck. Of course the allen rounds out so I had to break out the welder and tack beads around the bolt head until I could get a pipe wrench with a piece of pipe on it to break it loose. GM got called many many unthinkable words that afternoon.

Had regular bolts in our '02 -- wasn't aware of the '98s being different. I used ARP's when I installed the new trans and torque converter. Cheap insurance.

Update....the 8mm allen key socket fits. I just need to get the long enough extention since my 10" isn't long enough.
