tailshaft seal shot out of housing

i have a 98 ta with small bolt ons and a 3400 stall i floored it and it gripped very well after i let off i noticed some smoke coming out of the back. i was not far from home so i limped it home and saw the seal was out of housing. i replaced the seal and topped the oil off,only lost a quart. when i took it for a ride to make sure everything was good i noticed i had a severe vibration at upper rpm range. even at slow speeds if i leave it in first and let it rev slowly it shakes not as bad as the high speed but a noticable vibration,any thoughts anyone.

Are your rear straps tight on the u-joint? Any chance you overtightened them and distorted the cap? Did you work on anything else while you were under there? Could be a fluke and something just went bad... but most likely it is in the u-joints.
