autos dont use flywheels. why step back in time for a 3speed when a properly built 60e can hold what most ppl do

Dont know if the ls1 will work for that kinda app. I'd say see what the conversion requires. Are you planning on dragin with the three speed? I figure thats why you're only wanting three gears. Same reason some people used the two speed power glide in the day. I just guessing here. If thats the case th400 is way to go. But like said in Quiks post it's going backwards in tech.

400 seems to be a popular swap when your making 700hp but average ppl can get away with a 4l60. plenty of 10s rides with 4l60s

good built 60 and converter net you 2k tops can even be less if you shop around

i run the car at the track every weekend. it runs mid 10's now and soon i hope to get it in the 9's. i just dont want to wast any more money on a 4l60e and it not hold up. my friend runs a built th350 and its been holding up fine, he has the tci flexplate. i was just wondering if i could save $200 and keep the stock one...

I did the th350 swap on my 94 f-body and I would strongly suggest not to do it. When I got it done it feels like a major lose in power and it tops out to fast. I have a built 4l60 in my 96 ws6 and have had no problems. I'm running a 9in 3200stall and love it

If you are running in the 10's and you are wanting to go faster, you have to have a SFI approved flex plate any way.
