Stall....I can't decide what company
So I need a 4000 stall for my 4l60e and I have narrowed it down to three companies but I unsure which one. The stalls I am a looking at are from Vigilante, Circle D, and Revmax. From what I can tell based on the listings they pretty much use the same parts but I dont want to buy one which the quality in parts and the attention to detail during assembly is inferior.Who would you run out of the list?

Throw Revmax out of your list. Can't go wrong with either of the other two, but I'd lean towards Circle D myself....or even Yank.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

Have read nothing but great things about their stalls and customer service. I think his name is Chris. They seem to be the most talked about too.

Well that doesn't help lol. Still on the fence which way to go. Part of me wants to go with Vigilante because they offer a 5 year warranty so they must be great quality to offer that length of a warranty not that I hope to need it. That and they seem to be top of the line based on what I have read as far as not being track only converters, followed closely by Circle D and Yank.

Vigilante (Precision Industries) has always been considered one of the better converters among the late model crowd. They always get rave reviews about their "around town" manors and yet still perform excellent at the track. Spendy though, they are priced a bit higher than Circle D and Yank.
On the other hand though, if you aren't going to keep that 4L60E in there, and go with a 400 turbo or a 4L80, then you might want to consider a cheaper converter just to get you by for now, and wait to spend more money on the good stuff when you get a trans that will stay in the car.

FBJ - what would need to be considered in a stall (differences) from a 4L60E and a 4L80? Being a M6, I never really researched that sort of thing.

I know I have talked about getting a 4l80e and replacing my 4l60e with it but I am unsure when that will exactly happen or if it will happen I haven't totally decided as of yet. It is likely to be a couple of years before I do it if I decide to. I think I am going to go with a vigilante though.

What is Circle D's warranty? Don't blame you. Warranties are a nice piece of mind

The 400/4L80 is a different animal with larger input shaft. Something I'm sure the manufactures also take into account is the 2.48 first gear these transmissions have creating a higher load on the stall that might change the design of the converter slightly since gear multipication changes a converters flash point.

When I installed my Performabuilt 4L60E, they doubled the warranty if I went with their house brand torque converter, so that's what I did. I have had no problems at all and it certainly performs well at the track.

So I decided on Vigilante and I bought their single lock up version. Can't wait to receive it.
