    Shift hesitation help please

For a while my 99 Camaro SS has had this shift hesitation. It has the 4L60-e transmission. When you are on the throttle 1/2 to 3/4 it gets to a point where it acts like it wants to shift. Then it will rev another 200 to 500 rpm and finally shift. It does not do it if your easy on the gas, running it through the gears, or just mat it. I have had the transmission flushed 7,000 miles ago and they said everything looked good. I installed a shift kit and it did it before and after. Replaced throttle position sensor still same problem. Little help please.

I hope you aren't trying to shift your car with your gear selector knob because it won't change gears manually. The E on a 4L60E stands for electronic which means the only thing that control over what gear its in is the CPU.

When I am running it hard I shift it manually. It will stay in what ever gear I want until I shift it. If I want it will bounce off the rev limiter all day in what ever gear I put it in.

What Rpm does your car shit out of every gear if you mash the gas and don't manually shift it?

Leave it in OD and not D because it will bang off the limiter in D for some reason. The "hunting" at part throttle may be normal as it cannot figure out if you are going to "mat it" or "let off".

Unless you like spending money on trannys, I highly recommend leaving it in gear. 4l60e trannys aren't made for manual shifting and that maybe the reason why it hesitates when shifting.

With a shift kit it is a must to DELETE all of the TQ management and to set all the "shift times to "0"--otherwise it will never operate correctly and can cause pre-mature failure----

Get it tunned and stalled, then you'll be good. Add a decent tranny cooler in there too for you don't burn it up.
