    ls1 gto 4l60e question

    I have a 04 gto with 59k miles... the last couple weeks I noticed when I get on-- probably one out of 5 times-- when shifting from 2 -> 3 it bounces rev limiter until I let off then hit it again then it'll shift. Whys that? Completely stock. Zero aftermarket parts

    G'day and welcome to the site.

    Have you checked the fluid lately, or done any service for the tranny? Does it do it at all from 1st to 2nd, or only 2nd to 3rd?

    No its only done it from 2nd to 3rd. But no I havnt done anything to it yet. Still have a temporary tag on it lol. Is there a scheduled maintenance list or something I can look at that has all the stuff due an at what miles?

    columbus where? The first thing to do would be to check the fluid like knight said. Any mods done to the car that you're aware of?

    No I'm pretty sure its 100% stock-- and no. Bought it at an auction as is. The car is in perfect shape. Galloway west side of columbus area... not quite hilltop but close.

    I'm just east of you in Lancaster. I could pull the tune for you and make sure it's the stock tune. I also still have my tune from my old 04 if you wanted a tune but first I'd figure out if you have a tranny on the way out or something. Have you checked the fluid yet?

    Hell yeah that'd be great... is it like an sct chip or something?
    I just realized its only happened when I manually shift from 2nd to 3rd. Could that be the problem? According to Valvoline place I went last night they require tranny flush every 15k miles... is that true?

    no....you don't need to flush it that often. I also wouldn't manually shift it....the pcm will shift better and faster than you ever will. As long as it's mechanically solid I can flash my old tune to it and you'll be amazed at how it shifts. Pretty considerable difference. I removed torque management, sped up the shift times, and raised the line pressure. I also have it commanding 12.8:1 afr and have the maf dialed in so you'd get a somewhat decent gain in HP. I would want you to be sure the car is mechanically sound first though because I ran this tune for 5 years so I know it's good and I don't want you thinking the tune busted your tranny if something were to happen to it. I use hptuners to tune. I tuned my 04 gto, my heads/cam firebird, my buddies heads/cam vette, 4 other gto's, several other f-bodies, and used efilive on my duramax. I don't claim to be a pro tuner by any means but I have the same tune I ran in my gto that would work perfect for you and it's not like you're car would be my first attempt at tuning.

    The car has been to Valvoline. Every 3-4k miles for oil changes, and had a coolant flush, fuel system cleansing, an has had 4 tire rotations... the guy b4 me took good care of it... the car is in great mechanical shape

    Well now things are acting wierd.... Seems sluggish from a stand still. Today I was at a light and I pushed the gas an nuthin... Just a rev. Waited a second- then it went. Getting on the freeway I punched it a little; grabbed great and once it hit red line it bounced three times and then made a LOUD squirming sound I heard over the car an radio.
