I'm pretty sure that Posi-traction is just GM's name for a limited slip. It's just one of those names they came up with in the 60's for marketing purposes, like Sure-Grip and Trac-Lok. GM, Ford, and Mopar all called thier Ltd. slips by a different name.
They might each work a little different, but they all basically do the same thing.

If your having only one wheel spin then your factory limited slip is going out and needs to be replaced.
If you want both wheels to spin all the time get a full spool.

Moser sells them..
but its like polishing a turd. find a good 12 bolt or 9 inch with a spool already in it.

You don't want a spool on a street car. With a spool, your rear tires are always locked together. Great in a straight line, not so great when you're turning. The tires need to be able to turn at different speeds when cornering, a spool doesn't allow for that. So you'll get some wierd handling and excessive tire wear if you run one.
Fo a street car a tight limited slip should be fine.

Go with a locker. Almost like a spool, but does let the axles "separate" in turns if your not on the gas.
