An automatic transmission's main focus is smooth shifting between gears. To accomplish this it often goes into two gears at once while shifting up, which is known as a shift overlap. In these cars, it is a kit that can reduce or eliminate the shift overlap. It will also reduce wear because the transmission won't be trying to drive in two gears at once. I'd venture to say that he is talking about a stall.

I guarantee he is talking about a stall converter.

and you think hes not going to ask what that is? a stall, or stall converter, is refering to a torque converter that has a higher than stock stall speed. which means loosely that the engine revs higher before it starts to make the car move. think of it sortof like with a stick shift if you pull out normally then stand on the throttle, or if you bring the rpms up then dump the clutch and stand on it. better launch cuz the engine is in or closer to the range where it starts making good power.

I went with the Trans Go shift kit from summit. First upgrade on my stock Z28. Its not quite as good as a built 350TH, but it's my daily driver.
My car shifts a little harder and feels better when passing mustangs on the highway.
    Good Luck!
