    dead spots...mph

Anyone know the mph range for the dead spots and the sweet spots on a auto with a stock stall and 3.23's? The only sweet spot i've found so far is from 60 to 70mph...the 40mph range is completely dead.

That is because of the limitations of the stock torque converter (1800 stall, 1.6 STR).

On aggressive throttle, my Yank 3000 stall eliminates the dead spot primaraly due to the shift extension, however under "normal" driving conditions, when lockup is achieved (for me 43 MPH), I will feel a "dead spot".

It seems like at certain speeds no matter what I do(unless I manually shift it) the tranny won't kick down...major dead spots. It always kicks down hard if I stay within 60-72 mph...and under 30mph. A stall will solve most if not all of this...but it'll be awhile before I get one. Just wanna know the speeds I should be at if I happen to get challenged from a roll.

If mine can kick down it will kick down, at 80 it'll drop to 2nd, at 38 or so I still drop down to 1st. I hate it personally I feel bad when it does it and I don't want it to, I like to respect my baby

I have wondered many times if my car has been tuned before, I wish I knew. IT shouldn't kick down like it does should it? And it holds out at higher RPM too even if you aren't on it hard

Mine doesn't do that at all...if i'm not on it it'll shift at like 2000rpm give or take some. I'll have to try a 80 roll and see if she kicks down....don't think it will though....she's a stubborn bitch.
