What is a good stall or torque converter for a bolt on car? How much does it cost to get installed?

look at yank converters ...one of the best if not the best...i have also herd good things about circle D.....for a bolt on look into the SS 3600....it is best to call yank and they will tell you exactly what you need...a yank converter is about 700-800 ..and i dont know install price as i will be installing it myself

I just had my convertor swapped out by a local Tranny rebuilding shop. They charged me $250.00. You can usually figure 4 hours time X what they charge per hour. I got off real cheap since the people I know have done some rebuilds in the past for me. Percision Industries makes the Vigalante Convertors. Check them out along with Circle D and Yank.

Problem is I don't have access to tools right now. Is this something you can do with hand tools and in a drive way? I've always had manual cars.

How much faster is this going to make my car in the quarter mile?

I am pretty sure on ls1howto.com there is a writeup. A jack, stands, and a few hand tools and you can change your owner converter

Depending on the stall and your mods .4 to 1 second in general
